Private Voice Lessons for the Young Singer (Ages 8–13)
For young singers, voice lessons are a joyful way to explore music and self-expression. At this age, students are curious, imaginative, and eager to experiment — making it the perfect time to nurture healthy vocal habits and build musicianship skills that will grow with them.
At The Growing Musician, I guide young singers from an explorative place, helping them connect body, breath, and voice. Together, we discover their range and learn how phonation, articulation, and breath work together to create healthy, expressive sound.
We explore a variety of musical styles — from musical theatre and pop to jazz and classical — to help each student find the music that resonates most with them. By understanding their listening habits and favorite songs, we shape a repertoire that feels personal and exciting.
Alongside singing, students also build essential musicianship skills: rhythm, note reading, and solfege. These tools help them become confident, well-rounded musicians who understand not just how to sing, but why music works the way it does.
Young singers at The Growing Musician develop a strong foundation in both vocal technique and musicianship — all within a supportive, creative environment.

Private Voice Lessons for the Teen Singer (Ages 14–18)
The teen years are a time of discovery — both personally and musically. For many young singers, this is when their voice begins to take shape, their musical interests expand, and opportunities to perform start to grow.
At The Growing Musician, lessons for teen singers focus on building vocal strength, expressive confidence, and healthy, sustainable technique. Many students at this stage are active in school or community theatre, show choir, or regional festivals, and lessons are tailored to support those goals.
Together, we work on repertoire that excites and challenges them — from musical theatre and contemporary styles to classical and jazz. We focus on aligning technique with storytelling and authentic emotional expression, helping singers learn how to connect their voices to the characters and songs they love.
Teens also build musicianship skills such as sight-singing and rhythm reading to prepare for auditions and ensemble work. Above all, lessons are a space for self-expression, creative exploration, and confidence-building — guiding each student to find their own artistic voice.
